I always want to call him “Horatio” because nowadays I think most authors would do that– unless it ;s some weird military/navy thing, and since I don ;t read modern military-related books I really have no idea what I ;m talking about. Her whole family is weird, but Flavia is a particular shade of weird that reminds me of Willard– like she ;s just two degrees and an insult away from becoming a mass murderer. Happy. I just started the book last night. Call me “ bird brain ” | Mo Costandi - NeurophilosophySome of the behaviours observed in birds are just as complex, if not more so, than those seen in non-human primates – and “ birdbrain ” no longer seems so much of an insult. Just be kind. Little things like that, things that seem to have no point and are just there to take up space, seriously annoy me and unless they pop up again in a later book , I don ;t want to see them in this one. For such a funny, absurd, sligtly depressing sort of book to have a moral of “be kind” at its core somehow makes the whole thing even more poignant and touching. Scary, and depressing, and that sort of situation calls for some humor to lighten things up
